Mineral Study

Each month has a theme, such as Opals, or rocks beginning with a particular letter.  Members bring examples of rocks and minerals that match the theme and share information about them.  Photos may be taken for inclusion in the next newsletter. Lapidary Workshop

Three nights a month we have access to lapidary equipment, which includes 2 trim saws, 2 6-wheels, 2 flat laps and a 14″ oil-cooled saw. 2009 West Michigan Avenue, Ypsilanti 48197. Reservations are required. Contact Frank Konieczki at  (734) 323-2218..

Member Meetings

Singing Bridge and Tawas Point State Park

Lakeport State Park Day Use Area

Lake Huron beach 20 minutes north of Port Huron. June 15. Many rocks in and out of the water, including petoskey, unakite, puddingstone and more. Register with Trip Leader Shane Vorva svorva@umich.edu or 734-645-8241

 

Rockport Quarry State Park

Quarry by Alpena on Lake Huron rich in fossils.  July
